Calling All Creatives!

Are you an artist, musician, writer, poet, dancer, or someone deeply passionate about the creative process? You are invited to apply to join a new Spiritual Direction Group launching in early November, 2026.

This unique group will gather once a month via Zoom to explore the sources that inspire our creativity and the Divine ways that creation unfolds in our lives and work. The sessions will be led by Suzanne Hanser, EdD, MT-BC, a certified spiritual director and music therapist.

GROUP HIGHLIGHTS

Deepen Your Practice: Explore the intersection of artistic flow and spiritual connection.

Community Connection: Share your experience with a supportive circle of fellow creators.

Expert Guidance: Benefit from Dr. Hanser’s decades of experience in integrative health, music, and spirituality.

How to Apply: If you are looking for a community to deepen your creative and spiritual life, contact Suzanne directly at shanser@berklee.edu. To ensure an intimate group setting, the number of participants will be limited, but there is still some availability in the November group.

Comments from current participants:

“Imagine your favorite chair, that perfect hot drink on a chilly day, or a blanket that feels like a warm hug. The Creatives Spiritual Direction Group is like that comforting embrace, but even better! We started our monthly meetings in January with a promise to meet for four sessions, and by the end, everyone agreed to keep going. We’ve built a safe place where we can share, encourage, inspire, and support each other. The feeling from each session lingers until we see each other again, and it’s been such a wonderful gift that we’ll always cherish.”

“Suzanne’s creative sessions are something I always look forward to. The intimacy of the small group, together with the thoughtful and gentle way she guides our conversations, has created a safe space for deep sharing… a place where we can express what may be weighing on us, listen to one another, and find release and perspective.

What I especially value is how these conversations often open the way for creativity. We leave inspired by one another: sometimes with new thoughts, new music, or new creations that allow us to express what we have discovered and, in turn, inspire each other.”

Spiritual Direction - With a Voice of Joy and Praise

Do you find yourself yearning to discover your inner wisdom or your purpose in the midst of a tumultuous world?

If you are seeking a deeper connection with the mysteries of life and beyond, spiritual direction opens a space for this exploration. Whether you encounter the divine in nature, in unexpected moments of grace, or in the vastness of the universe, I am here to journey with you.

We may begin in silence or with an intention based on poetry, text, art, or music. While you guide the process, I may direct your attention to the spirit within and around you. I will be there to witness the questions stirring within you, and to listen to the quiet knowing of your soul.

My career has been devoted to the practice of music therapy and music as medicine. I have designed rituals for personal life transitions and healing circles for groups. Recently, I concluded spiritual direction training with the Institute for Jewish Spirituality, and am now ready to apply my creativity and experience to offer this service.

I will provide monthly one-hour sessions at my home in Newton or online via Zoom. If you’re curious about whether spiritual direction is right for you, let’s connect. We can schedule an appointment to talk or meet for a complimentary session. Please contact me at shanser@berklee.edu.
